Visiting Churches

This weekend has been very productive in the sense that I was able to "taste" the various flavors of local churches/ministries here in the Seattle area. It all began Friday night, when my cousin Florence and her husband Henry took me to sister Shujen's new home for a "Well-Watered Garden" worship gathering. Well-Watered Garden is an Asian American worship music ministry, and they meet on a regular basis. It was a wonderful evening of soaking in worship.

Saturday evening, I attended an "Illuminate" service at the Overlake Church in Redmond, a suburb of Seattle. "Illuminate" is a post-modern, seeker-friendly, emergent church ministry within the larger Overlake Church community. It sort of feels like the Highway church that I attended before in Northern California.

Then, on Sunday I was able to go the morning service at Seattle Revival Center in Newcastle (another suburb). I feel very much at home there. You can really sense the presence of God in the worship. Afterwards. I went over to a youth group BBQ of Bread of Life Seattle, a Chinese church here in Bellevue (the town where I'm living right now). It was cool to meet up with the leaders and the members of this youth group. I am currently seeking the Lord to see if I should indeed get involve in ministry with this youth group, and to what degree. Keep me in your prayers. I'll keep you posted.

Lake in the wilderness

This is a picture that I took on my road trip across America. The location is Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area in Southwest Wyoming. I veered off the main freeway and found myself at this spot overlooking this body of water. "Lord, how majestic is your creation!"

Seattle friends and Cyworld

Today I got to hang out with a couple friends. One was Ben from the Bay Area in California. We met up for lunch at "5 Spots," a cool cafe on Queen Anne's Hill, north of downtown Seattle. Afterwards, I met up with Alex, my old college buddy, at Barnes and Noble in the University Village by UW. We walked up to Zoka's, a premier coffee shop, and had a nice chat sitting outside, enjoying the cool, sunny weather.

On another note, check out us.cyworld.com. I heard about it a couple weeks ago, and I am starting to build my own page on there. It's pretty cool. You can access it at us.cyworld.com/samliu. It's still under construction, so it'll probably take a few days before it looks nice.

Arrival!

I arrived in Seattle this afternoon. Praise the Lord! I had a nice, scenic drive from Boise, Idaho. While in Boise, I stayed overnight at Mark's house. Mark is a friend of David Byron, a friend of mine (who just got married). Mark gave me a cool driving tour of Boise, and took me to the college group meeting at Vineyard Boise. Now that I'm here at my destination, I'll probably take things slow for the next few days. God is good.

Visiting friends in Parker, CO

A couple days ago I dropped by Parker, CO (a suburb of Denver) to visit my friends Janelle and Jenny and their family. Janelle is the one standing right next to Kelly, her husband, (the big tall guy). Jenny is the one standing right next to Janelle in the second picture, and the girl standing next to her is her friend Alice, who just came over here from Taiwan. The three women are all skilled violinists. Both Janelle and Jenny teach violin to students. They all got to try out my 5-string Vector Prodigy electric violin and were pretty impressed by it's playability, sensitivity, and tone quality.

I also got to see Janelle and Jenny's parents and had a good time talking with them. I left the Denver area yesterday morning, and drove to Odgen, Utah via Wyoming. It was a pleasant, scenic drive. Today I will be driving to Boise, Idaho, and staying there overnight, before reaching my final destination, Seattle!

IHOP!

Finally, I got to visit the International House of Prayer in Kansas City (for the first time). Though I wasn't there too long, I got to attend an intercession set and a devotional set (with Misty Edwards as assistant worship leader). I also bumped into a couple old friends, Liz Pell from Resurrection church in Charlotte, and Steven, whom I met in Washington DC.

Right now, I'm staying overnight in Burlington, CO, on the way to Parker, CO tomorrow morning. Stay tuned for further updates!

1st stop: Cookeville, TN

I arrived in Cookeville yesterday evening. It was a pretty smooth drive. Praise the Lord! My aunt and uncle lives here in town, and it was good to meet up with them and stay at their house. Tonight I will be sharing at their Bible Study (so please pray for me!), and I'll be heading out to St. Louis tomorrow morning.

My cousins Lilian and Daniel are also on a road trip across America. They are driving from Pittsburgh to Berkeley, CA. I am hoping to meet up with them around Denver, CO.

Last full day before the move

Tomorrow morning I will be driving out of the Carolinas towards Seattle. It has been a wonderful 2.5 years in the Charlotte region. Reggie and Debbie Hill threw a party for me Monday night, and tonight the Resurrection youth will also have farewell party on my behalf.

Last night, I had a final Harp & Bowl session at ZHOP (Zadok House of Prayer). I played my 5-string electric violin with the rest of the gang--Greg on the prayer mike, Carol on vocals/keys/guitar, TJ on bass, and special guests Isaac on drums, and good old Frank on acoustic guitar. It was Frank's first time back to our Harp & Bowl session in 8 months. His family had moved a bit further north, so we haven't been in contact with him much at all, so it was a pleasant surprise to see him here, and have him play with us. It felt like the good old days.

You guys can keep me in your prayers, for safety, protection, and a smooth journey as I drive across the country. Thanks!

Here are some photos of the outdoor wedding. Congragulations to David and Daria! May they live happily ever after. I got a chance to meet up with some old college friends as well. God is good.

iRiver Clix

Recently I got an iRiver Clix, a 2 GB mp3 player and photo viewer. It has an amazingly big and sharp screen for something as small as it is, and the sound is above average as well. I am more than satisfied with it, praise God for His gifts!

Other than music and pictures, it can also play video, though I don't use the video function, because it takes up the memory space and drains the battery too fast. It also has a voice recorder, FM radio, text storage, and flash games. When you just play music, the battery life is pretty long. It plays WMA files and works best with Window Media Player 11.

To learn more about this product, just click on the title link to go to the iRiver Clix page. What I like the most is it's creative and intuitive design. I haven't seen anyone else with this player yet, (everyone else has ipods), but I think this player is better than a Nano, just my opinion.

Allen's departure

My housemate Allen left today for Maryland. He moved in last October, so he had been living with us for about 10 months. It was a bit sad to see him leave, but we wish him the best.
