in Manila before flying back to the States

I am back in Manila now after spending yesterday visiting my compassion child Jenelyn on Negros Island. It was a special moment. her family, friends, neighbor all gathered to welcome me into their home. Jenelyn was so excited that she was speechless most of the time. I received a big kiss on the cheek when we first saw each other face to face, i was caught off guard. God is so good. I didn't realize that what I did, supporting her 28 dollars a month, meant so much to her and her family. she had a picture of me all framed in the house. I got to pray for her and bless her, and give her the gifts that i brought. we spend a few hours sightseeing in her town, and I played the violin a little bit, and we ate some good filippino food. it was a blessed time. she had prayed that I would come visit her, and God answered her prayers. there is alot more I want to write, but I'll close right now. I lost an contact lens, so you can pray that i will travel safely and smoothly as i fly back to the states tomorrow morning. i will write about the trip in greater detail when I get back, so stay tuned!

Philippines missions update

dear friends,
God has been amazing here. we had some really
powerful nights in the past week in meetings with the
local body in the mtn areas here, there were lots of
angelic activities and people were delivered and set
free from a lot of spiritual bondages, and we felt
that we gained significant ground for the kingdom of
God. it has been a really wonderful experience here
with my team.
though my wrist did not get better last week it did
not get worse to hinder me from playing, we all
experienced some major spiritual warfare, but i felt
easier to flow in the anointing as the week went on.
now that we are back in Manila, and the mission trip
is almost over, my wrist has healed significantly,
well enough to play basketball. my friend David here
has bought me a wrist guard, so it helped alot in
speeding up the healing.
when in the mtns the roads were pretty bad and
dangerous and it took us 10 hours to travel through 90
miles of rough terrain, half of it unpaved and single
lane. but it was worth it, and the people there were
extremely glad to see us come, and God moved.
tomorrow my team will fly back to the states. and I
will be alone here in Manila until monday, when a
compassion staff Joel is to pick me up from my lodging
and take me to the airport and fly with me to Negros
island, one hour to the south. we will travel a
couple hours by bus to get to my child's family home.
then I will meet up with Jenelyn, my sponsored child,
and spend time with her and her family, and give her
the gifts that i bought for her. i will stay in a
motel there that night then fly back to manila the
next day (tues), then fly back to the states on Wed.
you pray for me for safety and smoothness for the
entire venture, and that i would get to meet Jenelyn,
and have meaningful time with her, and that God would
move again in a powerful way. and for my safe trip
back to the states.
i will write more in details about the trip after i
get back.
thanks and God bless,
Sam

Philippines update, midway report and prayer request

dear all,
i'm in Baguio right now at internet cafe. don't have
much time so i'll make it quick. first, prayer
request. my right wrist has been sore and has been a
problem for me, in playing the violin. i am playing
still but it doesn't get better afterwards. please
pray that God would heal my right wrist/hand
completely so i can play without problem the rest of
the way. my left wrist is also stressed. this has
never happened before in my playing the violin. pray
for continual protection of the team as we'll be
heading into some intense area of occult and demonic
activity later. pray for breakthrough.
we landed safely in Manila, our contact David and his
filippino team met us, and we slepted for 4 hours
before getting up at 5 am to drive 10 hours to ilocos
sur. the weather is pretty hot here.
last three days we have been in the seaside province
of ilocos sur to lead a worship conference/seminar for
about 200 filippinos. Zarina was able to get here and
meet us safely. praise God! It was difficult the
first night to press into worship, but on the 2nd and
3rd day there were some major breakthroughs. people
got touched by the holy spirit and everyone started
crying out to the Lord. I had a chance to share my
testimony and preach on prayer on the third day, I
really felt the power of God with me and it was clear
that people were convicted by the message. Praise the
Lord! and God did a powerful work. We introduced new
worship songs, taught about different styles of
worship, how to dance in worship (Zarina is amazing
dancer), and taught prophetic worship and
intercession, and warfare. none of them had any real
teaching on worship before and everything was pretty
new to them. All of us on the team got to
teach/preach/share to the people there.
On the last night we worshipped for the whole meeting
and the Holy Spirit broke through in a powerful way.
most filippinos typically suppress their emotions and
were starting to break free and started weeping,
laughing, dancing, wailing, under the power of the
Holy Spirit. everyone was up to the altar at the
front and recommitting their hearts and lives to the
Lord. It was amazing worship, joy broke out! It was
up on a higher level than most of what i've
experienced in America and my past mission trips, and
the leaders, pastors there started ministering to
people (both americans and filippinos), and the
worship team just keep going and going. Praise God
that He got me the grace to play through despite my
wrist problems. After it was over, we had to leave
right away and drive here to Baguio. We'll be here
for a few days and do a outdoor worship concert.
Please pray that God would continue to move and do a
great work here in the Philippines! I am sensing that
there is a lot of need for healing of the people and
healing of the land. pray for our team members
Reggie, Debbie, Zarina, Ashley, Bethany, filippinos
David, Rod, Josh, James, etc. Pray for our health and
safety. thanks and God bless,
Sam

Final preparations for the Philippines trip

It's less than 24 hour until we fly off for the Philippines. Hopefully I would have some internet access there and be able to post updates and prayer requests to this website when I'm there. My teammate Bethany has written up a comprehensive prayer list for this trip, and you can view it at the Pray Station Page.

Also, thanks to all who prayed for Zarina. The borders miraculously opened up for her yesterday, 4 hours before her flight. So she is on her way to the Philippines right now. Praise the Lord!

If you want to get a free Gmail account, just email me, and I can hook you up. The only way to get a Gmail account is by invitation from an existing Gmail user. You can't sign up for it off their website. So if you want to try it out, just let me know. I have plenty of free invitations to give away.
